Flower City Friends Club Hosts Awareness Seminar on Mukti Foundation’s Community Services

Flower City Friends Club (FCFC) successfully organized a community awareness seminar on Jan 18, 2026 conducted by Mukti Foundation, aimed at educating the public about the Foundation’s services and its mission to provide dignified and respectful funeral support to community members.

The seminar was attended by over 100 individuals, reflecting strong community interest and engagement.

The event was inaugurated by Jaswinder Daind, President of FCFC, who welcomed the members and highlighted the importance of such seminars. He emphasized that timely awareness about dignified funeral services and responsible planning helps families make informed decisions during emotionally challenging times.

“This seminar is very important for our community. Mukti Foundation is addressing a sensitive but essential need with compassion and clarity,” he said.

Background and Vision of Mukti Foundation

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gian Paul, Chairman of Mukti Foundation,( a registered Non For Profit Organization with  CRA ) shared how Mukti Foundation came into existence. He explained that the Foundation was established to ensure dignity, transparency, and affordability in funeral arrangements, particularly for families from low- and modest-income backgrounds.

“Mukti Foundation was created to ensure that no family feels helpless or financially burdened during the final journey of their loved ones,” said Mr. Paul.
“Our approach is simple, ethical, and community-driven, built on mutual support and respect.”

How Mukti Foundation Works

During the seminar, Mr. Paul explained the operational model of Mukti Foundation in clear terms.

Mukti Foundation operates on a membership-based, community-supported model to provide dignified cremation services. Any adult aged 18 years or above residing in the anywhere in Canada is eligible to become a member.

Membership requires completion of the prescribed forms and payment of a one-time, non-refundable admission fee of $100 per individual. Membership becomes active 90 days after enrollment.

At the time of a member’s passing, Mukti Foundation coordinates directly with the family and the funeral home chosen by the family. All members are informed, and the cost of cremation is shared equally among members through a pre-authorized electronic payment. Mukti Foundation pays the funeral home and crematorium directly.

In cases where a member passes away in India, and the family wishes to conduct the funeral there, Mukti Foundation also covers the cremation expenses in India, ensuring continuity of dignity and support.

“Our system is designed to provide peace of mind, fairness, and transparency while upholding dignity at every step,” Mr. Paul added.

Community Perspectives

Speaking on the significance of such organizations, Mr. S. S. Bedi, Team Member of FCFC, emphasized the broader community impact of Mukti Foundation.

“Organizations like Mukti Foundation play a crucial role in supporting families during difficult times. They represent compassion, responsibility, and community strength,” he said.

Sharing her personal experience, Ms. Nishi Sharma, a member of Mukti Foundation, explained why she chose to enroll.

“I became a member because Mukti Foundation offers clarity, dignity, and a well-structured system. It gives me confidence that things are thoughtfully planned,” she said.
