New TMU Integrated Health Centres to Serve Over 100,000 Patients Annually

Brampton is taking another major step forward in improving access to healthcare with the official naming and ribbon cutting of the Toronto Metropolitan University  “Integrated Health Centre – supported by 407 ETR”.

Building on the momentum of their opening in February, these integrated primary care centres represent a long-awaited investment for families across the city who have struggled for decades to find a family doctor. With the capacity to serve more than 100,000 patients annually, the centres will connect thousands of residents to team-based, community-focused care, helping reduce wait times and ease pressure on emergency rooms. This milestone comes shortly after the School of Medicine’s official opening in September and reflects continued momentum in strengthening healthcare access across the region.

Councillor Santos highlighted the significance of this moment for the community:

“With an $8 million investment from 407 ETR the Integrated Health Centre at TMU’s Medical School in Brampton and Downtown Brampton, will provide innovative and community based primary care while giving resident doctors an opportunity to learn and practice. For far too long, families in Brampton have faced real challenges with accessing a family doctor. Today marks another major milestone in changing that reality. These Integrated Health Centres will provide care to over 100,000 patients each year, delivering the kind of accessible, team-based healthcare our residents deserve. This is about building a stronger, healthier future for our community, and ensuring that no family is left behind when it comes to accessing care.”
