Today, municipal leaders and community partners gathered at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) to recognize the leadership and generosity of The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and Mayor Iain Lovatt.

In recognition of a remarkable $1 million contribution raised through community events spearheaded by Mayor Lovatt, the hospital proudly named and unveiled the Mayor Iain Lovatt & The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Seating Area, located at the main staircase where the Foundation’s Spiral of Sharing and Heritage Wall are on display. This contribution supports the purchase of new equipment and priority needs for the hospital.

“This recognition is a tremendous honour for our entire community. I am incredibly proud of the residents, donors, volunteers, and partners who came together to support Markham Stouffville Hospital,” says His Worship Iain Lovatt, Mayor of Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. “This $1 million contribution reflects the generosity and compassion of Stouffville, and it will help ensure patients and families have access to the life‑saving equipment and exceptional care they deserve, today and for generations to come.”

Mayor Lovatt is the Co-Chair of the Campaign for MSH alongside City of Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. Together, they are calling on our communities to invest $150 million to transform the hospital into an integrated health care hub and meet the needs of a rapidly growing population. Mayor Lovatt united the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville to support MSH through numerous events including — All Night Lawn, Mayor Lovatt’s Charity Golf Classic, Stouffville Gala, and Stouffville Main Street 5K.

“On behalf of the Administration at the Town of Stouffville, we are very honoured to receive this recognition,” says Sunny Bains, Chief Administrative Officer, Town of Stouffville. “This is a testament to the compassion and collective spirit of our staff. Their continued commitment to supporting causes such as this truly embodies the values of our organization.”

This special naming stands as a lasting tribute to the Stouffville leaders and community members highlighting the important role of community investment in strengthening local health care. “As our region continues to go through exponential growth, so does the demand for programs and services at Oak Valley Health,” says Mark Fam, President & CEO, Oak Valley Health. “Gifts like this ensure we can continue to expand the services our patients need, enhance the patient experience, and continue to invest in the hospital’s most urgent priorities.”

Government funding alone cannot support all the hospital’s priority needs. Through MSH Foundation, donor support helps ensure the hospital can continue to expand and respond to increasing demand for care.

“We are incredibly grateful to Mayor Lovatt and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville for their commitment to our hospital,” says Suzette Strong, CEO, MSH Foundation. “The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville exemplifies what’s possible when a community comes together to ensure patients can continue to receive exceptional patient care close to home.
