Police are continuing to investigate possible links between a 2024 homicide in Niagara Falls, Ont., and a broader network of organized crime tied to a transnational drug-trafficking operation.
Newly released court documents reveal investigators are examining whether the firearm and vehicle used in the killing of 29-year-old Randy Fader are connected to other unsolved cases.
Fader, a father of two, was fatally shot in his driveway in April 2024 by a gunman who exited an SUV before opening fire. Authorities allege the killing was carried out by a hitman linked to a criminal organization led by former Canadian Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding.
According to U.S. prosecutors, the attack was ordered by Wedding’s alleged associate, Andrew Clark, who is accused of coordinating the killing through encrypted messages and offering payment for the hit.
While one suspect, Malik Damion Cunningham, has been arrested and faces charges in the United States, police believe at least one additional individual may have been involved.
Investigators are also attempting to unlock the victim’s cellphone, which they believe could provide critical leads in identifying others connected to the case.
The affidavit, recently unsealed by an Ontario court, suggests the homicide may be part of a larger pattern of violence linked to the alleged drug network, which authorities say has been involved in multiple killings across North America.
Cunningham remains in custody as he contests extradition to the U.S., while legal proceedings continue in both countries.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed the motive behind Fader’s killing, though court documents indicate he was known to law enforcement in connection with international drug activity.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to uncover the full scope of the network and its potential ties to other violent crimes.
