Ukraine Deployed Drones In Middle East During Iran War, Zelenskyy Reveals

Ukraine has confirmed that its forces conducted drone interception operations in multiple Middle Eastern countries during the recent Iran conflict, marking a significant expansion of its military role beyond its borders.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv deployed personnel and domestically developed interceptor drones to help partner nations counter Iranian-designed Shahed drones — the same type widely used by Russia in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the operations were not training exercises but active defensive missions aimed at strengthening real-world air defence systems.

Ukraine reportedly deployed hundreds of experts across several countries, though the specific locations were not disclosed. In return, Kyiv received military assistance, fuel supplies, and financial support to bolster its own war effort and energy stability.

The revelation comes amid concerns that escalating tensions in the Middle East could divert Western military support away from Ukraine. However, Zelenskyy said additional air defence systems, including Patriot missile supplies, continue to arrive.

He also warned that Ukraine faces increasing pressure in the coming months, both politically and on the battlefield, as global attention shifts toward the Middle East conflict.

Separately, Zelenskyy signalled openness to a temporary ceasefire aligned with the Easter period after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a short-term truce. However, previous ceasefire attempts have largely failed, with both sides accusing each other of violations.

The disclosure highlights Ukraine’s evolving strategy — positioning itself not only as a recipient of military aid, but as an active security partner in global conflicts.
