Union Home Minister Amit Shah met U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Thursday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in key security areas, including counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics efforts and border security.
Following the meeting, Shah said the discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between India and the United States on security matters and reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
He emphasized that the government remains dedicated to ensuring that the growing relationship between the two countries delivers tangible benefits for the people of both nations.
Ambassador Gor described the talks as productive, highlighting discussions on joint efforts to combat terrorism, tackle narcotics trafficking, secure borders and bring criminals to justice in both countries.
The meeting comes amid continued efforts by New Delhi and Washington to deepen cooperation across strategic, economic and security sectors.
In a related development, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is expected to visit India next week to advance ongoing trade negotiations between the two countries.
The discussions also follow the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
The latest engagement underscores the growing focus on security cooperation as both nations seek to address shared challenges ranging from terrorism and organized crime to cross-border narcotics trafficking and regional stability.
