Canada’s men’s 4×100-metre relay team captured the Olympic gold medal in a dramatic race at Stade de France on Friday.
With Andre De Grasse anchoring the team, the Canadians finished with a time of 37.5 seconds. South Africa took silver with 37.57 seconds, and Britain secured bronze with 37.61 seconds. The United States was disqualified due to a mishandled baton exchange.
The Canadian team, which also featured Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, and Brendon Rodney, built on their previous success, improving from the silver medal they earned in Tokyo.
Andre De Grasse has now become the most decorated Canadian male Olympian, with a total of seven career medals, including two gold, two silver, and three bronze. This achievement ties him with swimmer Penny Oleksiak.
