Brampton launches opportunity for neighborhood groups, apply now to support community well-being and safety

BRAMPTON, ON (February 1, 2024) – As Brampton continues to grow, the City is committed to building strong and connected communities. Following the launch of the City of Brampton’s Neighbourhood Association Guide, a key part of its Community Safety Action Plan, local neighbourhood groups are now invited to apply to become an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association.

An Affiliated Neighbourhood Association is a volunteer group of residents from the same neighbourhood who work together to identify ways to improve their community with positive changes. Affiliated Neighbourhood Associations will be connected with a City liaison through Brampton’s Community Safety and Well-Being Office (CSWO) to provide support and advice to residents. Once affiliated, the Neighbourhood Association will also receive the City’s new Nurtured Neighbourhood Grant of up to $1,500 to use toward neighbourhood projects, events, meetings and activities.

Key benefits of becoming an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association include:

  • Enhanced sense of connectedness amongst fellow neighbours.
  • Increased belonging by meeting and building relationships with neighbours.
  • Beautified communities.
  • Improved community safety.
  • City recognition for neighbourhood-led initiatives that increase community safety and well-being.

This program was created through meaningful conversations with residents seeking support with projects and initiatives to help their neighbourhoods feel safer and more connected. With this feedback, CSWO has evolved the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program into this second phase.

How to apply

Neighbourhood groups wishing to become an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association can apply here. The deadline to apply is February 29, 2024, at 11:59 pm.
