January 15, 2025 – Police have arrested two Burlington residents in connection with a scam involving fake Taylor Swift concert tickets, defrauding fans of nearly $70,000.
The alleged scam targeted fans of Swift’s sold-out shows at Toronto’s Rogers Centre last November. Fraudulent tickets were advertised on Facebook Marketplace starting in August 2023, and buyers were told their tickets would be delivered closer to the concert date. However, when the time came, no tickets were provided.
Victims reported that when they asked for refunds, the accused claimed the money was already spent. A total of 28 people have come forward, stating they paid for tickets that never materialized.
Denise Tisor, 44, was initially charged last year and now faces additional charges, including eight counts of fraud and possession of property obtained by crime. David Lloyd Blake, 56, has also been charged with 19 counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Tisor, who allegedly operated under the alias “Denise Blackhawk” on Facebook Marketplace, is accused of collecting over $300,000 for more than 400 tickets. Many victims said they trusted her because they knew her personally or had bought tickets from her before.
Authorities believe more victims could still be out there and are urging anyone who purchased fake tickets to file an online police report.
The case remains under investigation, with Toronto police collaborating with Halton Regional Police. All charges are yet to be tested in court.
