Celebrating Brampton’s soccer legacy and Where the Game Grows

In March, the City of Brampton launched its Where the Game Grows with a community celebration at City Hall recognizing the city’s deep connection to the game and its ongoing contribution to soccer in Canada. The March 26 event brought together residents, community members and nationally recognized athletes whose soccer journeys began in Brampton, with autograph sessions and opportunities to celebrate the city’s role in developing elite talent.

Players and alumni at the event included Atiba Hutchinson, Cyle Larin, Doneil Henry, Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, Jonathan Osorio, Junior Hoilett, Liam Millar, Paul Stalteri and Tajon Buchanan.

This summer’s programming is part of Experience Brampton’s Where the Game Growscampaign, celebrating the people, programs and places driving the growth of soccer across Brampton.

Through accessible recreation programs, diverse leagues and community-based opportunities, the campaign highlights how soccer continues to unite communities, inspire young athletes and shape Brampton’s identity.

Quote

“Soccer has long been part of Brampton’s identity, bringing communities together across our neighbourhoods, parks and local clubs while helping develop talented athletes who continue to make an impact on the national and international stage. Hosting one of the final stops of this national celebration tour is an exciting moment for our city and a reflection of the passion, diversity and community spirit that continue to shape soccer in Brampton. I invite residents and visitors to join us this summer in celebrating the game, supporting local talent and experiencing the incredible energy these events will bring to our community.”

Patrick Brown, Mayor, City of Brampton
