Smiles are back across Markham, Ballantrae, and Stouffville as the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign returns from April 27 to May 3 in support of Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH). To kick off the campaign, Dr. Bear stepped behind the counter at a local Tim Hortons today, greeting customers, taking orders, working the drive-thru, and decorating Smile Cookies.
Customers can support the hospital by purchasing a Smile Cookie ($2 plus tax) or a cute and cuddly
Smile Cookie reversible plushie from April 27 to May 3.
“The annual Smile Cookie campaign is a powerful reminder of what community truly means. For the past 30 years, Tim Hortons restaurant owners, team members, and guests have come together to create real
change for people right in their own neighbourhoods,” says Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons.
“With nearly 700 local charities and community groups supported this year, the reach of this campaign
has never been greater. We encourage everyone to visit their local Tims and join us in making a
difference.”

Since its launch in 1996, the Smile Cookie campaign has donated 100 per cent of proceeds to charities
across Canada, supporting the communities in which the restaurants operate in. Proceeds from
participating restaurants in Markham, Ballantrae, and Stouffville will benefit families and children and
youth cared for at MSH.
MSH is committed to delivering high-quality, integrated patient care to one of the country’s fastest
growing and most culturally diverse regions. Government funding alone can’t keep pace with all the
hospital’s priority needs, or health care’s evolving landscape. MSH relies on dynamic partnerships like
this one with Tim Hortons to implement new technology, improve access, and enhance programs and
services. Generous donor support helps MSH purchase leading-edge equipment and enhance its
campus, enabling safe and timely care for the communities Oak Valley Health is honoured to serve.
“We are honoured to be the long-standing beneficiary of the annual Smile Cookie campaign in Markham
and Stouffville,” says Allan Bell, Vice President, Community Relations & Corporate Partnerships, MSH
Foundation. “With every cookie purchased, Tim Hortons’ support helps fund essential programs and
services for children and families at our hospital.”
Community members can also support by participating in MSH Foundation’s Smile Cookie Instagram and Facebook contests for the chance to win a $50 Tim Hortons gift card and a Smile Cookie plushie.
