Hema Malini Calls Sunny Deol’s ‘Batwara 1947’ ‘Simply Brilliant,’ Praises Aamir Khan

Veteran actor Hema Malini has praised Sunny Deol-starrer Batwara 1947, calling the film “simply brilliant” and applauding its message of humanity, mutual respect and harmony at a time when the Independence Day release is struggling at the box office.

Sharing her review on social media, Hema said the Rajkumar Santoshi-directed film delivers a message relevant to contemporary society by emphasizing kindness and unity over hatred and division. She expressed hope that the film would encourage audiences to reflect on those values.

Hema also praised Santoshi’s direction and singled out Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi for their performances. She complimented Karan Deol and Preity Zinta for their roles in the film as well.

The veteran actor also congratulated Aamir Khan for producing the project, describing Batwara 1947 as a “timeless film” carrying a message that is particularly important today.

Her comments come as Batwara 1947 faces a challenging run at the box office following its Independence Day release. Despite its commercial performance, Hema’s endorsement adds to the attention surrounding the film and its portrayal of themes linked to the Partition era.

Hema recently also spoke about her relationship with Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, dismissing speculation about tensions within the family. She said the family remains close and united despite generally keeping their personal relationships away from public attention.

She also recalled that her late husband, Dharmendra, placed great importance on family unity and encouraged everyone to spend as much time together as possible.
