India, Newfoundland And Labrador Explore Deeper Ties In Energy, Critical Critical And Trade

India’s Consul General Mahavir Singhvi met with Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Tony Wakeham for discussions aimed at strengthening ties between India and the province across energy, trade, investment, innovation and education.

The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in several strategic sectors, with both sides identifying offshore energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen, mining, marine technology and port logistics as promising areas for greater engagement.

The discussions also explored opportunities to strengthen partnerships in healthcare, higher education, skills development and research, reflecting growing interest in building stronger institutional and economic links between India and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Both sides highlighted the complementary strengths of India and the province and reaffirmed their commitment to developing resilient economic partnerships, encouraging innovation and creating new opportunities for long-term growth and shared prosperity.

The meeting comes amid broader efforts to expand India’s economic and institutional engagement with Canadian provinces in sectors considered critical to future growth and global supply chains.
