Japan PM Sanae Takaichi To Visit India July 1–3 For Annual Bilateral Summit

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will undertake her first official visit to India from July 1 to 3 for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, the Ministry of External Affairs announced.

Prime Minister Takaichi will visit New Delhi at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the summit expected to focus on strengthening the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and reviewing progress under the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

The two leaders will also exchange views on key regional and global issues of mutual interest as India and Japan continue to deepen cooperation across strategic, economic, security and technology sectors.

The visit marks Prime Minister Takaichi’s first official trip to India since taking office and follows Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Tokyo in August 2025 for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit.

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the summit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthen their long-standing Special Strategic and Global Partnership amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
