Maninder Sidhu Heading To India With Delegation For Two-City Visit

Canadian Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu is scheduled to lead a business delegation to India from October 12 to 16, 2026, as Ottawa looks to expand commercial ties and build momentum toward a broader Canada-India trade agreement.

The mission is expected to support ongoing negotiations toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries. Canada and India have been working to strengthen economic relations, with both governments setting ambitious targets for expanding bilateral trade by 2030.

During the visit, Sidhu is expected to hold meetings with government and business representatives while Canadian companies participate in networking and business-to-business opportunities in major Indian markets. The delegation will focus on connecting Canadian firms with potential partners and identifying opportunities for investment and trade.

Priority sectors are expected to include agriculture and agri-food, clean energy, critical minerals, aerospace, advanced technology, artificial intelligence and innovation. These industries have emerged as important areas of cooperation as Canada and India seek to diversify their economic relationships and create new opportunities for businesses.

The October mission comes amid a broader reset in Canada-India relations and follows renewed efforts by both governments to deepen economic cooperation. Progress on CEPA is expected to remain a central focus as Ottawa and New Delhi work toward expanding bilateral trade and investment over the coming years.
