September 04: NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is ending his party’s agreement with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s minority Liberals, which was meant to keep the government in power. Singh announced on social media that he decided to break the deal because he feels the Liberals are too weak and selfish to support the middle class and stand up to the Conservatives.
He said he informed Trudeau that the agreement is now over, criticizing the Liberals for not meeting expectations and not deserving another chance. The deal, which started in March 2022 and was supposed to last until June 2025, aimed to bring stability to the minority government by having the NDP support the Liberals on key votes in return for advancing progressive policies.
