Ontario Liberals Celebrate Eid with Hundreds of Community Members in Scarborough Southwest

More than 250 community members gathered Monday evening at Qssis Banquet Hall in Scarborough Southwest for an Eid celebration hosted by the Ontario Liberal Caucus, and Scarborough–Guildwood MPP Andrea Hazell.

The event brought together families, community leaders, faith leaders, local residents, and elected representatives from across the Greater Toronto Area to celebrate Eid and reflect on the values of community, generosity, and service.

Attendees were joined by Ontario Liberal Interim Leader John Fraser, MPP Andrea Hazell, MPP Stephanie Bowman, MPP Mary-Margaret McMahon, MPP Ted Hsu, MPP Jonathan Tsao, and Scarborough Southwest candidate Ahsanul Hafiz.

In his remarks, Hafiz spoke about his deep roots in the community and his commitment to ensuring Scarborough Southwest has a strong voice at Queen’s Park.

“It was inspiring to celebrate Eid with so many friends, neighbours, and community leaders,” said Hafiz. “Scarborough Southwest is one of the most diverse and vibrant communities in Ontario. Tonight was a reminder of the values that unite us: family, service, compassion, and a commitment to building a better future together.”

Andrea Hazell thanked attendees for their continued community leadership and highlighted the importance of celebrating the cultural and religious diversity that makes Scarborough strong.

John Fraser also extended Eid greetings to families across the community and thanked residents for their warm welcome and participation.

The evening featured community fellowship, dinner, and opportunities for residents to meet with elected representatives and local leaders.
