Pearson Gold Heist — Trial Begins Today In Brampton

The trial of a man accused of taking part in one of the largest gold heists in Canadian history has begun in Brampton, Ontario.

Parmpal Sidhu has pleaded not guilty to charges of theft over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence in connection with the 2023 theft at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The case stems from the high-profile disappearance of a multimillion-dollar shipment of gold from the airport.

Sidhu’s trial comes shortly after prosecutors withdrew charges against two other men previously accused in connection with the case. Last month, the Crown dropped charges against jeweller Ali Raza, who had been accused of knowingly receiving some of the stolen gold, as well as Amit Jalota.

Another man has already admitted his involvement in the heist. Arsalan Chaudhary, who was arrested earlier this year after returning from Dubai, pleaded guilty to theft over $5,000.

Chaudhary was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay $22 million in restitution. He was given 40 years to repay the amount.

Sidhu’s case is now proceeding before the court in Brampton as prosecutors seek to prove his alleged role in the 2023 Pearson airport heist.
