Peel Police’s Traffic-Related Investigation Led To Seizure Of Loaded Firearm & Quantity Of Cannabis; 2 Charged

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 3:41 a.m., officers from the 12 Division uniform patrol investigated a vehicle in the area of Cawthra Road and Dundas Street East in the City of Mississauga.

The officers conducted a traffic-related investigation, and as a result, a loaded firearm and a quantity of cannabis were seized.  

Cody John, a 21-year-old man from Cambridge, is charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available 

Ishi John, an 18-year-old man from Toronto, is charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

All charged persons were held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. None of these allegations have been proven in court of law.
