Project Eclipse Results in $3.4 Million of Illicit Cannabis Seized

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau (2CIB) have laid numerous charges after seizing a large quantity of illicit cannabis.

In May 2026, 2CIB began an investigation into a suspect distributing illicit cannabis from a residence in the City of Markham. The suspect was believed to be connected to a network trafficking illicit cannabis throughout Markham and surrounding areas.

On May 15, 2026, the primary suspect was arrested and charged. Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Markham and located a quantity of illicit cannabis, a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine and Canadian currency.

Officers identified additional suspects and, on May 21, 2026, executed search warrants at two additional residences in Markham and at a commercial unit in the City of Toronto. Officers seized more than 1,300 pounds of illicit cannabis and more than 30 jars of cannabis oil extract, with an estimated street value of more than $3.4 million.

As a result of the investigation, five suspects have been charged.
