Provincial task force arrests 124 in carjacking sweep, recovers 177 vehicles valued at $10 million

A provincial task force investigating carjackings in Ontario has announced the arrest of 124 individuals and the recovery of 177 stolen vehicles worth over $10 million.

The task force reported on Tuesday that these arrests and recoveries occurred over a seven-month span from September 2023 to March 2024. Officials added that 749 criminal charges were filed, and eight firearms were confiscated.

Police noted that intelligence from the task force also initiated Project Titanium, which targets a criminal network involved in violent auto thefts, home invasions, and other crimes.
