Aug 3: Surrey RCMP have seized several firearms after a video emerged showing individuals dancing with guns at a local celebration. The incident, which drew significant public attention, prompted law enforcement to take immediate action.
Following the circulation of the video on social media, authorities conducted a targeted operation in Surrey. The RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence, resulting in the confiscation of over three dozen firearms, various gun parts, and a substantial amount of ammunition. The seized weapons included both conventional and 3D-printed firearms, often referred to as “ghost guns” due to their lack of serial numbers, making them untraceable.
During the operation, a 42-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene but later released pending further investigation. The suspect was identified as a potential threat due to the ease with which they could distribute prohibited firearms and ammunition, despite having no known ties to organized crime. This proactive enforcement effort was part of the RCMP’s strategy to address threats to public safety stemming from illegal firearm possession and distribution.
In addition to the firearms, police also confiscated body armor and numerous high-capacity magazines, some of which were loaded or illegal. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and community cooperation to ensure public safety.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the police to help maintain a secure environment. This case underscores the serious approach law enforcement agencies are taking towards firearm-related offenses and their commitment to reducing gun violence in the community.
