At every step of the way, the federal government has been focused on making life more affordable, creating good jobs, and building a Canada where nobody is left behind. That’s exactly what the government has been delivering.
The spring parliamentary session just wrapped up, which delivered real results to make life better for all Bramptonians.
From January to June, this government introduced 14 bills in the House of Commons and 7 in the Senate on a range of important issues including: further strengthening gun control, making housing more affordable, supporting seniors and persons with disabilities, and much more.
Since the House came back in January, we introduced legislation to:
- strengthen gun control – with some of the strongest measures seen in a generation.
- impose a new tax on underused houses owned by non-Canadian investors.
- put more money in the pockets of persons with disabilities; and
- make life more affordable for seniors.
The Health Committee completed critical work studying COVID-19, Mental Health and Addictions in Canada, as well as Labour Shortages in the Health Care Sector. In the Status of Women Committee, studies included Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence in Canada, Bill C-233, measures to address violence against intimate partners, as well as Resource Development and Violence Against Indigenous Women and Girls.
As your voice on committee, MP Sidhu has brought local experts to both committees to share their expertise as it relates to situations on the ground in Brampton.
Very soon, the national framework for diabetes will be tabled, following the passage of Bill C-237 last June. As your MP, MP Sidhu will continue to work with the government to advance issues of Canadians and Bramptonians living with Diabetes.
When the House of Commons is back in the fall, MP Sidhu will keep working hard to make life better for all residents in Brampton South.
