Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has made box office history in India, recording the biggest opening day ever for a Hollywood film in the country.
The Tom Holland-starrer grossed ₹72.44 crore (US$7.6 million) on its opening day, surpassing the previous record held by “Avengers: Endgame” to become the highest-opening non-Indian film in Indian box office history.
The Marvel blockbuster also drew nearly one million moviegoers to cinemas on its opening Thursday, delivering one of the strongest theatrical debuts ever for an international release in India.
The record-breaking launch highlights the enduring popularity of the Spider-Man franchise and Marvel films among Indian audiences, giving Sony Pictures its biggest-ever opening in the market.
