BUENOS AIRES – Argentine authorities have charged three individuals in connection with the tragic death of former One Direction singer Liam Payne, who fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month. The 31-year-old’s sudden death has left fans worldwide in shock, prompting questions about the circumstances surrounding his fall.
According to authorities, a hotel employee made a 911 call on the day of Payne’s death, reporting that he had been acting erratically and might have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol. An autopsy later confirmed the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and an antidepressant in Payne’s system, as revealed by the prosecutor’s office.
The individuals charged include a suspected drug supplier, a hotel staff member who allegedly provided Payne with the drugs, and someone close to the singer who was reportedly with him at the time. All three are accused of contributing to Payne’s access to the drugs, while the person with him also faces a charge of “abandonment of a person followed by death.” Authorities have not released the names of those charged.
