Toronto police are searching for a suspect following a suspected hate-motivated stabbing near Queens Quay and Lower Spadina Avenue on Saturday, August 29. According to investigators, the suspect initiated an unprovoked interaction with a victim and a witness, uttering anti-Sikh statements and racial slurs before attacking the victim with a knife. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a five-foot-six male with black hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a navy-blue short-sleeved jersey featuring an NFL “Sunday Ticket” logo on the back with white accent stripes, blue jeans marked with a dark grease stain on the left calf, and grey and black New Balance running shoes.
The investigation is being led by the Toronto Police Service’s Hate Crime Unit. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s identity to contact police directly at 416-808-3505 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
