A new survey commissioned by the Toronto Region Board of Trade reveals that most respondents have thought about relocating from the city because of traffic congestion.
The board highlights that the survey reflects a widespread sentiment across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA): traffic issues are becoming increasingly severe. Infrastructure experts and cycling advocates suggest that more emphasis is needed on providing alternatives to car travel for navigating the city.
Conducted by Ipsos from June 7 to 14, the survey included 1,000 participants from Toronto, Hamilton, Durham, Halton, Peel, and York.
The results showed that 86% of respondents view the situation as a crisis, with 89% of drivers and 82% of non-drivers sharing this perspective.
