TRIEC Mentoring Partnership Celebrates Mentorship Excellence at the TMP Impact Awards 2026, Co-Hosted by TD

TRIEC, in partnership with TD, proudly hosted the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership (TMP) Impact Awards 2026 at TD’s offices in downtown Toronto. The event brought together mentors, employer partners, community partners, government representatives, and leaders to celebrate the champions, partnerships, and achievements that continue to shape the success of the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership program.

For more than two decades, the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership has demonstrated the power of mentorship to transform careers, strengthen businesses, and unlock the full potential of newcomer talent. More than 28,000 mentoring matches later, the program continues to prove that when experienced professionals invest in newcomer talent, the impact extends far beyond individual careers to strengthen Canada’s workforce and economy.

Celebrating Leadership, Commitment, and Impact

The afternoon celebrated the extraordinary mentors, employer partners, and champions whose leadership and dedication continue to shape thousands of career journeys. Their commitment helps newcomer professionals thrive while enabling employers that invest in their success to benefit from their skills, experience, and expertise.

The celebration opened by recognizing the Community and Employer Partners whose leadership and collaboration have been instrumental to the continued success of the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership. Building on that spirit of collaboration, the afternoon honoured mentors, TMP Champions, and employers whose dedication continues to shape thousands of career journeys.

In total, 54 individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions to mentorship and newcomer career success. They ranged from Mentee-Turned-Mentor recipients and milestone mentors celebrating 10, 15, 20, and 25 mentoring partnerships to TMP Champions whose leadership continues to strengthen the mentoring ecosystem. Employer Partner Milestone Awards were also presented to four organizations in recognition of their longstanding commitment to mentorship and creating opportunities for skilled newcomer professionals.

A highlight of the afternoon was an interactive discussion inviting participants to co-author the future of mentorship in Canada by exploring one bold idea that could shape the next chapter of newcomer career success. The celebration concluded by recognizing the ongoing support of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD), United Way Greater Toronto, and RBC Foundation, whose partnership powers the continued success of the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership.

Spotlighting Mentorship Excellence

The awards recognized 18 Mentee-Turned-Mentor recipients, celebrating former mentees who have come full circle by mentoring the next generation of skilled newcomer professionals.

Another 23 milestone mentors were honoured for completing 10, 15, 20, and 25 mentoring partnerships, reflecting years of commitment to sharing their knowledge, expanding professional networks, and helping newcomers build meaningful careers in Canada.

The celebration also recognized 10 TMP Champions for their exceptional leadership continues to expand the reach and impact of mentorship.

Recognizing Employer Leadership

Employer partners play a vital role in creating pathways for newcomer success. This year’s Employer Partner Milestone Awards recognized four organizations for their exceptional commitment to mentorship and inclusive employment practices:

  • Accenture for 300 mentoring matches
  • Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for 300 mentoring matches
  • Deloitte for 700 mentoring matches
  • TD for 3000 mentoring matches

A defining moment of the afternoon was the recognition of TD, a founding partner of the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership, for reaching a historic milestone of 3,000 mentoring partnerships. As the first employer to achieve this landmark, TD exemplifies the extraordinary impact of sustained leadership, partnership, and commitment.

“Newcomer talent is Canada’s competitive advantage, and unlocking its full potential will shape the next chapter of Canada’s growth story” said Simon Trevarthen, Chief Executive Officer of TRIEC.

He added, “Canada already has exceptional newcomer talent. Yet many employers continue to face talent shortages while skilled professionals remain underutilized. Mentorship is a powerful growth driver that accelerates workforce integration and bridges the gap between talent and opportunity. Scaling innovative approaches that will fast-track talent into the workforce is now an economic imperative and that is the future the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership is helping build.”
