U.S. Coast Guard Suspends Search For Six Aboard Crashed Ontario Air Ambulance

Four of the six people on board were Canadian

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for an air ambulance that went missing Saturday while carrying six people, four of them Canadian.

The Gulfstream G100 jet lost contact overnight during a flight from Bermuda to Boston, according to Latitude Air Ambulance’s director of flight operations. On board were two Canadian pilots, two Canadian medical staff, a patient and a member of the patient’s family.

Coast Guard aircraft and vessels searched the waters off Nantucket, Mass., on Saturday. Crews later found a debris field that has been confirmed as belonging to the missing plane.

Speaking Sunday, officials in Boston declined to speculate on what caused the incident. They said the aircraft’s flight recorder, or “black box,” which could shed light on what happened, has not been recovered.
