5 September: York Regional Police have released a video showing an armed home invasion in Markham as they continue to search for four suspects believed to have intentionally targeted the residence. The incident took place near Victoria Square Boulevard and Woodbine Avenue, where officers responded to a break-in call at 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to a news release issued on Thursday, the homeowner dialed 911 after four suspects broke into the home, brandishing firearms and demanding money.
The surveillance footage, shared by the police, captures a suspect vehicle—a dark-red compact SUV with silver roof racks—arriving at the Markham property. Four individuals, all wearing dark clothing, are seen exiting the vehicle and moving toward the house. In one camera angle, a suspect is observed kicking the front door open, with the others following closely behind.
Once inside, at least two suspects are visible in what appears to be the dining area. One suspect points a gun toward a blurred figure before throwing an unknown object on the floor.
During the invasion, three adults and one child were present in the home, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Police believe the attack was a targeted act and are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage from the vicinity to come forward.
No detailed descriptions of the suspects have been released at this time. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, or to reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
