Jan 17: York Regional Police have charged a 19-year-old Toronto man with manslaughter and several other offences in connection with the death of Markham realtor Yuk-Ying Anita Mui last summer.
He is the sixth person to be charged in the case. His charges include manslaughter, accessory after the fact to murder, kidnapping, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Police arrested him on January 15.
Mui, 56, was reported missing by her family on August 9. Later that day, her Mercedes SUV was found abandoned in Toronto. On August 12, her burned remains were discovered in Parry Sound.
Others charged include a 24-year-old man from Oshawa and another 19-year-old from Toronto. Three teenagers—two 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old—were also charged with firearms and fraud-related offences.
Meanwhile, police are still searching for 47-year-old Zhixiong Marko Hu, who is wanted for first-degree murder. A Canada-wide arrest warrant is in place, and authorities believe he may have fled to Hong Kong.
Investigators previously said Mui may have met Hu on the day she disappeared to discuss a real estate deal in Stouffville.
