Zelenskyy Criticizes U.S. Position On Ukraine Amid Ongoing War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump over a diesel supply agreement with Russia, accusing Washington of moving closer to Moscow while Russian forces continue targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

During an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored on Wednesday, Zelenskyy questioned Trump’s position in efforts to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. He argued that while Ukraine could accept the United States acting as a neutral mediator, Washington should avoid decisions that appear to favour Russia.

Zelenskyy also expressed concerns about the advice Trump is receiving, suggesting that some of his advisers may be influencing decisions that undermine American support for Ukraine. His remarks reflected growing frustration in Kyiv over the direction of U.S. foreign policy and the possibility of losing a crucial international partner.

The criticism followed Trump’s announcement of an arrangement with Russian President Vladimir Putin involving the immediate supply of more than 300,000 metric tonnes of diesel. The agreement reportedly covers fuel intended for the United States and international markets.

Trump subsequently clarified that the diesel supplies were primarily intended for the broader global market rather than exclusively for American consumption. He defended the arrangement as a measure to increase international fuel availability and reduce energy prices.

Zelenskyy also accused Moscow of continuing attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities despite a ceasefire announced by Washington concerning energy infrastructure. He questioned Russia’s commitment to reducing hostilities and warned that such developments could weaken diplomatic efforts to bring the conflict to an end.

The disagreement highlights renewed tensions between Kyiv and Washington as Ukraine seeks continued American military and diplomatic support while the Trump administration pursues negotiations with Moscow.
