Adam Troy Mann, a 40-year-old man from Ontario, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Tori Dunn, a 30-year-old business owner from Surrey, B.C. Dunn was found critically injured following a reported home invasion at her residence in Port Kells on June 16, 2024. Despite efforts to save her, she did not survive.
Mann was arrested near the scene on the same day and has remained in custody since. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) continues to collaborate with Surrey RCMP to gather evidence and pursue further leads in the case.
During a news conference, Dunn’s father expressed a mix of relief and ongoing anger over Mann’s arrest. He highlighted systemic failures within the justice system, particularly regarding Mann’s release on prior charges despite objections from Crown prosecutors.
B.C. Attorney General Niki Sharma and Premier David Eby have both called for a review of federal bail laws following the incident. They emphasized the need for greater public safety measures and accountability within the judicial process.
Adam Troy Mann is scheduled to appear in court on July 2. The case has sparked widespread community outrage and calls for justice reform to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
