 Artsy Culture Presents the World Premiere of “Kahaani Cafe: Table #7 – The Stories We Carry” 

 This season, the historic Paradise Theatre on Bloor transforms into a vessel for music and memory with the debut of Kahaani Cafe: Table #7 – The Stories We Carry. This original musical play explores the intersection of South Asian heritage and urban life, centered around a single, storied table in the heart of Toronto. 

Set entirely within the vibrant atmosphere of the Kahaani Cafe, the production follows a rotating cast of characters who seek refuge at Table #7. From the couple being set up on a first date, to the aspiring screenwriter nursing a cold chai or the , their stories intertwine through a soulful score that blends contemporary musical theatre with traditional South Asian influences. 

‘“Kahaani” means story, and this play explores the emotional and physical luggage we all carry with us when we sit down at a communal table.” says the production’s creative team. The Paradise has always been a place for cinema, but with this show, the lobby itself becomes the stage. 

Production Highlights 

A Site-Specific Feel: The play utilizes the unique architecture of the Paradise Theatre to create an immersive experience complete with a live band and live vocalists. 

Diverse Narratives: A celebration of south-asian culture, told through song and spoken word. 

Kahaani Cafe: Table #7 – The Stories We Carry features an all South-Asian -Canadian cast, crew and musicians. Uppekha Jain stars alongside vocalists Ankita Nandawat and Mujeeb Rizvi, actor Megha Raina and Manish Sawhey. They are joined in a special appearance by Sabeen Zeb and Zeb Aur Rang. The play has been directed by Sarabjeet Singh Aurora.
