Canada has rejected the latest U.S. counter-offer in ongoing trade negotiations, with just days remaining before Washington is set to impose new tariffs on billions of dollars’ worth of Canadian goods.
Sources revealed to the media that Ottawa turned down the latest proposal from the United States as the two countries continue efforts to reach an agreement and avoid another escalation in their trade dispute.
The rejection comes ahead of an August 19 deadline, when new U.S. tariffs of 50 per cent on billions of dollars in Canadian goods are scheduled to take effect.
