December, 2024: Chinese President Xi Jinping is unlikely to attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next month, even though Trump extended a personal invitation after Election Day.
As per the report, China will instead be represented by its ambassador to the U.S. and the ambassador’s spouse at the January 20 event, which follows typical diplomatic customs. Additional Chinese officials might also be part of the delegation.
Organizers have appointed staff to handle diplomatic protocols during the ceremony. However, both the Chinese embassy in Washington and Trump’s transition team declined to comment on the situation.
