Ontario Premier Doug Ford has addressed rumors about people defecating on Wasaga Beach. At a press conference on Wednesday, Ford dismissed the claims, saying, “Folks, don’t be pooping on the beach. Simple as that. We have no proof of it either.”
The issue was highlighted last month when a TikTok user claimed that people had been using the beach sand as a toilet for years. The user, who spoke out in a viral video, mentioned that locals avoid letting their children play in the sand.
In response, the Town of Wasaga Beach issued a statement on July 22 rejecting these claims as unsubstantiated and misleading. They confirmed they had not received any evidence from residents, visitors, or the Ontario government to support the accusations.
At a special council meeting last Monday, Mayor Brian Smith expressed concern that these rumors were damaging the town’s reputation. He proposed that the province and other officials should invest in Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to address the issue.
