Satellite imagery analyzed by the media indicates Israel is constructing a more than 23-kilometre earthen barrier inside Gaza, reinforcing control over more than half of the territory as ceasefire implementation remains stalled.
The Israeli military confirmed it has built a physical barrier along the so-called “yellow line,” describing it as part of a security zone designed to prevent infiltration and protect Israeli troops and nearby communities. The military said it has also deployed intelligence and technological assets in the area but did not disclose how far the barrier will extend.
According to the report, construction has accelerated in recent months, cutting through heavily damaged Palestinian communities and separating Israeli-controlled areas from the rest of Gaza. Palestinian officials and residents fear the barrier could become a permanent border, while the Israeli military maintains it is a security measure.
The development comes as the ceasefire agreement remains deadlocked. Under the original deal, Israeli forces were expected to eventually withdraw further from Gaza, but negotiations have stalled amid ongoing fighting and disputes between Israel and Hamas.
