· Get your COVID-19 vaccine or booster today.
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
· Stay home when you are sick.
· Cover your mouth and nose when coughing.
· Clean your hands regularly.
· Consider wearing a mask indoors in pubic settings.
· Always wear a mask when visiting hospital.
What to know when visiting Osler’s…
Urgent Care Centre
· The Urgent Care Centre is the best place to go for non-life threatening illnesses and is open everyday from 8 am – 9 pm.
· If you have a life-threatening medical emergency, or aren’t sure, always go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 9-1-1 immediately.
· Osler is committed to seeing patients as quickly as we can in our Urgent Care Centre. Wait time clocks are available on Osler’s website.
· If you come to the Urgent Care Centre with serious and/or life-threatening injuries, illnesses or conditions, you will be stabilized and transferred to the Emergency Department at Brampton Civic Hospital or Etobicoke General Hospital, or to an appropriate department depending on your care needs.
Emergency Department
· Osler Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, every day.
· If you have a life-threatening medical emergency, or aren’t sure, always go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 9-1-1 immediately.
· Osler is committed to seeing patients as quickly as we can in an emergency department that is among the busiest in Canada. Wait time clocks are available on Osler’s website.
o In the Emergency Department, the sickest patients are seen first – if you need immediate medical care, you will be prioritized.
o How long you wait depends on a number of factors such as:
· The severity of your illness/condition;
· How busy the hospital is when you arrive;
· The number of tests you need (e.g. bloodwork, ECG, urine sample, x-ray, CT scan);
· Whether your emergency doctor is consulting with another specialist;
· Whether you are being admitted to the hospital and need to wait for an available bed. If this applies, emergency staff will continue to care for you until you are moved to your room.
