Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding extensive discussions with Argentine President Javier Milei today (July 5, 2025), marking a historic moment in India-Argentina relations as the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 57 years.
The talks in Buenos Aires mark the third stop on Modi’s five-nation tour and aim to deepen cooperation in critical sectors such as defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, and trade and investment, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute at the San Martin Memorial, honoring Argentina’s revered independence leader. This is Modi’s second visit to Argentina as Prime Minister—his first being in 2018 for the G20 Summit—but the first official bilateral engagement at this level in over half a century.
Following his Argentina visit, Modi will head to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit and a state visit, before concluding his international tour in Namibia.
