Sarnia police investigate fatal stabbing of international student Gurasis Singh (22), 36-year-old charged with second-degree murder

Sarnia, 4th Dec 2024: An Indian student was fatally stabbed in Canada on December 1, according to authorities.

Sarnia police in Ontario responded to a stabbing incident at a home last week. When they arrived, they found the body of a man and arrested a suspect.

On Tuesday, the police confirmed that the victim was 22-year-old Gurasis Singh, who was studying business at Lambton College.

The person arrested in connection with the stabbing is 36-year-old Crossley Hunter, who has been charged with second-degree murder. According to Sarnia Police, Singh and Hunter lived in the same residence and got into a physical fight in the kitchen. During the altercation, Hunter stabbed Singh multiple times, leading to his death.

Sarnia Police have stated that, although an arrest has been made, the investigation is still ongoing. The Criminal Investigations Division is working to gather all the evidence to understand the details of the incident and any possible motive behind the murder. Authorities have also confirmed that they do not believe the crime was racially motivated.
