Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is warning that the latest U.S. tariff threat against Canadian goods could lead to job losses in both Canada and the United States.
Reacting to President Donald Trump’s decision to impose new 50 per cent tariffs on a range of Canadian products, Moe said escalating trade barriers would damage businesses, disrupt supply chains and increase costs for workers and consumers on both sides of the border.
The premier urged both governments to return to negotiations, arguing that the deeply integrated Canada-U.S. economy depends on stable and predictable trade. His comments come as political leaders and industry groups across Canada call for a resolution before the new tariffs are scheduled to take effect in 30 days.
