Second Cup terminates Montreal franchise after owner caught making antisemitic remarks and Nazi salute

November 25: Second Cup Café has revoked the franchise rights for two of its Montreal locations following a video that surfaced online. The video, recorded during a pro-Palestinian protest on Thursday, showed the franchisee making hateful remarks and performing a Nazi salute. The two affected locations were situated at the Jewish General Hospital.

In a statement on social media, Second Cup condemned the franchisee’s actions, stating that they violated the company’s values of inclusion and community. The company added that it has a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech and, in cooperation with the hospital, has closed the café and ended the franchise agreement. The video showed a woman, wearing a keffiyeh, sunglasses, and a medical mask, chanting offensive slogans and giving a Nazi salute.
