Lahore Qalandars have found their rhythm this season, delivering back-to-back commanding performances in the Pakistan Super League. After a dominant win over Quetta Gladiators, they continued their strong campaign by routing Karachi Kings in a one-sided encounter. With both their batting and bowling departments clicking, the Qalandars are making a serious push toward the playoffs.
Shaheen wins toss, Qalandars bat first
Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and opted to bat. Both Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings fielded unchanged playing elevens from their previous matches.
Qalandars recover from early jitters with a stellar partnership
Lahore’s innings got off to a rocky start, losing Muhammad Naeem and Abdullah Shafique early, with just 25 runs on the board. But Fakhar Zaman, in sensational form this season, combined with Daryl Mitchell to anchor the innings and shift the momentum.
The duo stitched together a game-changing 125-run partnership that propelled the team to 150-2. Fakhar led the charge with a blistering 76 off 47 balls, featuring six boundaries and five sixes. Mitchell offered crucial support with a composed 75 from just 41 deliveries.
After Fakhar’s dismissal, Sam Billings picked up the scoring pace during the death overs, ensuring Lahore posted a massive total. Karachi were left facing a steep target of 202.
Karachi’s batting crumbles under pressure
Karachi Kings’ chase began on a disastrous note. Skipper David Warner and key batter James Vince were both dismissed for ducks in the opening over, as Shaheen Afridi bowled a fiery new-ball spell. The collapse deepened with Irfan Khan’s early exit and Shan Masood falling after scoring 18. At 45-4, the Kings found themselves in serious trouble.
Wickets kept tumbling throughout the innings, with only Khushdil Shah showing some resistance lower down the order. Despite his efforts, Karachi could only muster 136 runs, falling 65 short of the target.
Disciplined bowling seals the deal for Lahore
Lahore Qalandars’ bowlers showcased collective brilliance. Shaheen Afridi and Rishad Hossain led the charge with three wickets each. Sikandar Raza delivered a tight spell, bagging two wickets for just 13 runs in 2.1 overs. Each bowler maintained pressure, giving Karachi no room to recover.
Fakhar Zaman takes top honours
For his explosive innings that set the tone for Lahore’s dominance, Fakhar Zaman was named Player of the Match.
With this win, the Lahore Qalandars continue their strong run and send a clear signal that they are a force to be reckoned with in PSL 10.
