11 Jan: Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is set to be honored with the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal for his remarkable contributions to the City of Brampton and the province of Ontario.
The medal, first introduced in 2023 ahead of King Charles III’s Coronation, was initially awarded to Lieutenant Governors, Territorial Commissioners, and members of the military. This distinguished recognition is granted to individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada or their community, or achieved excellence abroad, bringing honor to the nation.
Mayor Brown will receive the honor during a ceremony at Brampton City Hall on Monday at 12 p.m. The medal will be presented by Brampton MP Shafqat Ali.
Eligibility for the medal includes individuals who were alive as of May 6, 2023, the date of King Charles III’s Coronation. While it can be awarded posthumously, recipients must meet this key criterion.
The program aims to distribute approximately 30,000 medals during the Coronation’s anniversary year. Of these, 4,000 will specifically recognize members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Public service employees from federal departments and agencies are also among the eligible recipients.
Mayor Patrick Brown’s recognition underscores his dedication and significant impact on his community and province.
